This report builds on our 2012 report (Revised Indicators of community vulnerability and adaptive capacity across the Murray-Darling Basin) to provide a contemporary understanding of the relative vulnerability of communities in the Murray-Darling Basin to changes in access to water for irrigation, and the ability of communities to respond or adapt to changes.

National winter crop production forecast to be above average in 2024–25 at 51.3 million tonnes, with increases in area planted and yields of cereals and pulses. Summer crop production in 2023–24 forecast to have remained above average at 4.6 million tonnes, but below previous year’s high.
