All aircraft, maritime vessels and military arriving in Australian territory from overseas are subject to Australian biosecurity requirements.
The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry has a number of requirements and processes for international aircraft, including human health notification, aircraft disinsection, aircraft waste disposal and the mandatory passenger announcement.
The department has inspection and reporting requirements to ensure that all maritime vessels arriving in Australia comply with international health regulations and that any biosecurity risk is adequately managed. The biosecurity risk of each vessel entering Australian seas is assessed and necessary action is taken to ensure exotic pests and diseases are not introduced.
The department inspects all military equipment and the personal effects of military personnel.
