Pakistan sheep report
Transcript: the treatment of animals in Pakistan was unacceptable and the department shares the community’s desires to see action. We support the industry’s voluntary suspension of the export of slaughter and feeder animals to Pakistan and we won’t resume this trade until we can manage the risks. This will include a Memorandum of Understanding between the governments on the trade.

Live exports
Transcript: of the hundred or so countries that are exporting live animals, Australia is the only country that regulates to ensure they are treated in line with international animal welfare standards.

Animal Welfare
Transcript: we’ll continue to work with industry, the public and importing countries to monitor and improve our animal welfare system for exported livestock.
The Australian Government understands and shares the community’s concerns about the welfare of animals. The mistreatment of animals is not acceptable. Where mistreatment has occurred we will take action. And that’s what’s happened today.
