Purpose
To advise all stakeholders that the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (the department) has published an updated version of the Australian Standards for the Export of Livestock (ASEL) 3.3.
Superseded standards and definitions have been removed, and the document has been reformatted with accessibility edits.
Key points
- Now that all amendments introduced in the ASEL 3.3 update are in place, the department has published a version of ASEL 3.3 with superseded definitions, standards and related implementation dates removed.
- The standards have also been reformatted to incorporate accessibility edits.
- ASEL 3.3 will look slightly different due to the accessibility edits, however there are no changes to the content.
- The ASEL 3.3 is available at the department’s ASEL webpage.
- A fully accessible version is available on request by emailing ASELReview@aff.gov.au.
- Feedback or questions on any matters relating to the ASEL can be sent to ASELReview@aff.gov.au. Emerging or more complex matters will be recorded and considered in future ASEL updates.
Background
- ASEL 3.3 implemented changes to maintain or improve animal health and welfare outcomes, update definitions, and improve clarity and usability of the standards.
