Purpose
To inform stakeholders that the department has commenced consultation for stage 2 of the Exporter Supply Chain Assurance System (ESCAS) review.
Key points
- Consultation for stage 2 of the ESCAS review is now open.
- The department invites stakeholders to provide feedback through our survey on Have Your Say.
- We are seeking constructive feedback on draft recommendations to address challenges in the ESCAS framework.
- Consultation will close on 18 December 2023.
- The department will use your feedback to inform the final recommendations and refresh/update of ESCAS materials in stage 3 of the review.
Background
ESCAS is the regulatory framework that ensures that exporters meet animal welfare, control and traceability outcomes for exported feeder and slaughter livestock in importing countries.
The department is conducting a targeted review of ESCAS in 3 stages. Consultation for stage 2 is to develop and test recommendations.
