To inform stakeholders that the department has commenced consultation for the Exporter Supply Chain Assurance System (ESCAS) review.

- Consultation for stage 1 of the ESCAS review is now open.

- We are seeking constructive feedback on challenges in the framework and proposed solutions.
- Consultation will close on 21 February 2023.
- The department will use your feedback to inform recommendations for stage 2 of the ESCAS review.
Background
ESCAS is the regulatory framework that ensures that exporters meet animal welfare, control and traceability outcomes for exported feeder and slaughter livestock in importing countries.
The department is conducting a targeted review of ESCAS in 3 stages. Consultation for stage 1 is to inform current state and challenge identification.
