26 April 2017 | South East Asian Livestock Services | The mortality rate for this consignment was 7.69%, exceeding the reportable level of 0.5% for voyages less than 10 days. The department and the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) are performing separate investigations into this reportable mortality. AMSA has revoked the Australian Certificate for the Carriage of Livestock (ACCL). This vessel cannot be used for export until it has a valid ACCL. This was the first voyage of a new livestock vessel. The voyage carried 1,236 cattle, with 95 mortalities. 90 cattle were euthanised as a result of slipping. A report will be published on the department’s website once the investigation is complete. |
