The department has published the final report from the review after considering all stakeholder feedback. The final review is available on the Biosecurity risk analysis web page.
On 19 January 2022 the department issued Biosecurity Advice 2022-A02 inviting comments on the draft report from the review of biosecurity risks associated with glanders (Burkolderia mallei) in horses and horse semen.
Following stakeholder feedback, the department has now finalised the review. The final report does not significantly alter the current import conditions for horses and horse semen. The outcome of the review ensures the continuity of trade while managing the biosecurity risks sufficiently to a level consistent with Australia’s appropriate level of protection.
