The investigation of this incident is now complete, with the report published in November 2019. The findings suggest heat stress and leg injuries resulting in infection were the main cause of the mortalities. As a result of the reportable mortality, the department required additional control measures for the next four consignments of cattle to Vietnam. |

Southern Australian Cattle Company Pty Ltd (SACC) | The mortality rate for this consignment was 1.36 per cent (25 out of 1,832 cattle exported) exceeding the reportable level of 1 per cent for cattle voyages of greater than or equal to 10 days. The investigation of this incident is now complete, with the report published in October 2019. The findings suggest gastroenteritis was the main cause of the mortalities. As a result of the reportable mortality, the department required SACC to provide additional control measures for their next consignment of cattle to China. |
