Notice issued: 19 September 2023
From 1 October 2023, the levy and charge on rubus produced in Australia will be amended. Legislative changes will be made by the Primary Industries (Excise) Levies Amendment (Rubus) Regulations 2023 and the Primary Industries (Customs) Charges Amendment (Rubus) Regulations 2023.
The total levy and charge rates for rubus will decrease to 4 cents per kilogram. The amendment to the rubus levy and charge will:
- decrease the existing research and development component from 10 cents per kilogram to 2 cents per kilogram;
- decrease the existing marketing component from 2 cents per kilogram to nil; and
- introduce a Plant Health Australia (PHA) levy set at 2 cents per kilogram.
