Starting 1 July 2016, an Emergency Plant Pest Response (EPPR) levy of 5 cents per cubic metre of logs will be introduced on exotic softwood trees of the genus Pinus sp.

The funds raised will be used to repay the Australian Government for costs paid on the industries’ behalf for costs incurred as part of the nationally cost-shared emergency response to giant pine scale that commenced in 2015 under the EPPR Deed.

Quarterly returns
If you are a forest growers levy payer/agent who submit quarterly returns, you will be required to:
- use the current levy rate for your April to June 2016 quarterly return – due on or before 28 July 2016
- use the new levy rate for all future returns starting with your July to September 2016 quarterly return – due on or before 28 October 2016
Annual returns (financial year)
If you are a forest growers levy payer/agent who submit annual returns, you will be required to:
- use the current levy rate for your 2015-16 annual return – due on or before 28 August 2016
- use the new levy rate for all future annual returns starting with your 2016-17 annual return – due on or before 28 August 2017
