From 1 July 2023, the levy and charge on stone fruit produced in Australia will be amended. Legislative changes will be made by the Primary Industries (Excise) Levies Amendment (Stone Fruit) Regulations 2023 and Primary Industries (Customs) Charges Amendment (Stone Fruit) Regulations 2023.
The total levy and charge rates for stone fruit will remain at 1 cent per kilogram. The amendment to the stone fruit levy and charge will:
- Increase the research and development component of the stone fruit levy and charge from 0.539 cents per kilogram of stone fruit to 0.98 cents per kilogram.
- Reduce the marketing component of the stone fruit levy and charge from 0.441 cents per kilogram of stone fruit to 0.00 cents per kilogram.

The change to the levy rate and charge is intended to support the relevant industry bodies in leveraging export opportunities for stone fruit and contribute to delivering greater returns for growers.
