From 1 January 2025, the levy and charge rate on macadamia nuts harvested in Australia and sold or processed or exported will increase.

GST does not apply to Australian Government levies and charges.

The Australian Macadamia Society Limited requested an increase to the levy and charge on macadamias to fund repayment of the industry’s contribution to the eradication response to Varroa mite, which was underwritten by the Australian Government.
