From 1 January 2025, the levy and charge on fresh lychees produced in Australia and sold or exported will change. The change will introduce a Plant Health Australia levy and decrease the marketing and research and development levy.
The total levy and charge rate for fresh lychees sold or exported, and lychees used or sold for processing will remain the same.

GST does not apply to Australian Government levies and charges.
The Australian Lychee Growers Association Inc requested a change to the levy and charge on fresh lychees to fund repayment of the industry’s contribution to the eradication response to Varroa mite, which was underwritten by the Australian Government.
