8 November 2019
Who does this notice affect?
Importers and brokers of fresh lemons and limes being imported from the United States of America.
What has changed?
From 12 November 2019, the department is transitioning fresh lemons and limes imported from the United States from the Compliance-Based Intervention Scheme (CBIS) dashboard, to the CBIS Q-ruler to achieve full system automation.
In order to support this change and continue recognition under the CBIS program, importers and brokers will be required to lodge consignments using an AQIS Commodity Code (ACC), as follows:
- US fresh lemons and limes subject to on-arrival inspection must use:
Tariff: 0805.50.00
ACC: LEMO
- US fresh lemons and limes pre-cleared using Offshore Pre-shipment Inspection (OPI) must use:
Tariff: 0805.50.00
ACC: OPIN
Please note, where an ACC is required, failure to apply a code may result in delays to your consignment.
For goods eligible for the CBIS, the number of consecutive compliant consignments required to qualify for risk-based intervention will remain unchanged.
