Who does this notice affect?
This notice is of interest to clients in the import industry for seeds for planting, including importers, customs brokers, freight forwarders and overseas suppliers.
What has changed?
The purpose of this notification is to advise stakeholders that the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment (the department) has published an entry coversheet that may be used for seed for planting consignments.
Industry stakeholders are encouraged to submit the coversheet to accompany other consignment documentations. The coversheet will assist to consolidate all key information and required documentations related to the seeds for import.
The coversheet and instructions are now available on the department's website.
What is the benefit of using the coversheet?
The coversheet is voluntary and is intended to streamline the document assessment process. The coversheet will assist importers to:
- provide the required information upfront to assist document assessment officers in assessing import conditions that apply to your consignment.
- prompt industry participants to check import conditions on BICON and submit all relevant documentations required by the department, to reduce the need for the department to request further information when documents have not been provided.
