The Australian and New Zealand standard diagnostic procedure (ANZSDP) for anthrax identifies and describes laboratory diagnostic methods, including bacterial culture, detection of virulence factors and chromosomal genes of the bacterium, and immunochromatography, that assist in diagnosing a rapidly fatal spore-forming bacterium occurring sporadically in herbivores in Australia’s ‘anthrax belt’.
