Biosecurity in the classroom: new resources for teachers

As we continue to work together to build a stronger national biosecurity system, new teaching resources have been developed to help inspire the next generation of biosecurity champions.

The resources, released in August, include teacher guides, classroom lessons and activities for primary school students in grades 2 to 5.

Developed in partnership with Primary Industries Education Foundation Australia (PIEFA), they boost biosecurity awareness by teaching students about Australia’s biosecurity system and how to recognise potential threats.

Students will gain an understanding of the shared responsibility involved in protecting our people, our environment, economy and lifestyle.

Explore the Australian Curriculum-aligned educational resources for primary students in grades 2 to 5, and we encourage you to share them, especially with the teachers in your life. We’re piloting these resources with schools and are keen to explore further connections.

We welcome your feedback on this initiative to help us refine the resources, and ensure they are fit-for-purpose and relevant for your classroom or organisation.

Together, we’re working to support a stronger biosecurity system that protects Australia’s way of life.
