Who does this notice affect?
Turkish treatment providers that are registered or seeking registration under the Offshore BMSB Treatment Providers Scheme (the scheme).
Clients in the import and shipping industries—including freight forwarders, importers and customs brokers—associated with importing goods from Turkey that require BMSB treatment during the BMSB risk season (goods shipped between 1 September 2019 and 31 May 2020 inclusive).
What has changed?
The department will be conducting BMSB fumigation training in Izmir, Turkey from 2 to 4 December 2019. The training is mandatory for all Turkish methyl bromide treatment providers currently registered under the scheme, as well as any other methyl bromide treatment providers in the country that are considering joining the scheme.
All Turkish treatment providers on the list of approved offshore BMSB treatment providers have been contacted and advised of the training and their required attendance.
Clients in the import and shipping industries who are aware of additional Turkish treatment providers that would like to register under the scheme are encouraged to advise them to contact the department at BMSB treatments.
