26 July 2019
Who does this notice affect?
Customs brokers and importers who import animal-based products from New Zealand that require sanitary certification.
What has changed?
Effective 5 August 2019, the department will receive electronic certification (eCert) for sanitary certificates issued by New Zealand’s Ministry for Primary Industries. This excludes certificates issued by New Zealand for live animals and reproductive materials.
Customs brokers and importers creating Full Import Declarations for products from New Zealand that require sanitary certification will need to accurately enter certificate details into the Integrated Cargo System (ICS) or third party software at the time of lodgement per Minimum documentary and import declaration requirements policy.
Please refer to the Electronic Certification (eCert) for Imports webpage for further information on current exchanges and lodgement requirements
