Who does this notice affect?
Importers, customs agents and brokers involved in the import of consignments of mined and chemical fertiliser into Australia.
What has changed?
Importers are being advised of changes that will be proposed to the import protocols currently in place for inorganic fertiliser, following a review conducted by the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources after consultation with the peak industry body, Fertiliser Australia.
Your opportunity to contribute to the development of revised import conditions
The Department of Agriculture and Water Resources has commenced a review into the management of biosecurity risks associated with the import protocols currently in place for inorganic fertiliser, which may result in further changes to import conditions for these goods.
A discussion paper will be released on Monday, 7 August 2017 outlining the proposed changes and affected stakeholders will be invited to provide comment.
The consultation period will conclude 5PM EST Friday, 18 August 2017.
