Who does this notice affect?
This notice is of interest to clients of the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources (the department) who import goods (including air and sea cargo, international mail, food, live animals, plant and plant products) into Australia.
What has changed?
The department’s Cost Recovery Charging Guidelines 2015-16 were publicly released in November 2015 to support the implementation of new export certification and biosecurity cost recovery arrangements on 1 December 2015.
The department has undertaken a review of the guidelines to provide greater clarity in the practical application of charges to all stakeholders including industry, clients and fee payers. As part of the review, the department has incorporated feedback and queries received from industry. A key change has been the introduction of additional detail on fee bearing and non-fee bearing activities.
The department’s Cost Recovery Charging Guidelines 2017 are now available on the department’s website.
