Who does this notice affect?
All importers and customs brokers who lodge import declarations and utilise the Cargo Online Lodgement System (COLS) to submit imported cargo documentation to the department for biosecurity assessment.
Background
Certain amendments to an import declaration in the Integrated Cargo System (ICS) may cause the status of a previously Cleared or Conditionally Cleared declaration to revert to a Held status. Some broker amendments will refer the consignment to the department even if the import declaration has already been released.
These entries need to be re-submitted to the department so that the amendment can be evaluated and the correct outcome can be assigned to the import declaration.
What has changed?
The COLS - Questions and answers webpage has been updated and is available on our website with detailed instructions for submitting amended entries in COLS for assessment by the department.
The new information advises COLS users how to proceed after an amendment has been made to a Full Import Declaration (FID) subject to Biosecurity measures. If the status in ICS reverts to held the new information will advise you how to lodge your documents via COLS.
Following these instructions will ensure the LRN is correctly prioritised in the system.
The webpage also includes additional question and answers to assist industry in understanding the various functions of COLS and to provide additional support to system users on some of the common scenarios they may encounter.
