Who does this notice affect?
This notice is of interest to brokers and importers of organic chemical commodities for animal feed and fertiliser under tariff Chapter 29: Organic chemicals.
What has changed?
The department has separated two community profile questions to ensure that animal feed and fertiliser commodities under tariff Chapter 29 will be lodged in the Agriculture Import Management System (AIMS), and be processed accordingly.
The tariff chapter affected is:
- Chapter 29: Organic chemicals.
Items declared under this tariff code will now be asked:
- Are the goods derived from animals, microorganisms (eg bacteria, viruses), prions, or a fermentation process?
- Are the goods to be used for animal feed or fertiliser purposes?
The import conditions for animal feed and fertiliser have not changed.
What do I need to do?
Importers and brokers should continue to lodge documentation to the department as per their current practice. Importers and brokers should also be aware of the BICON import conditions for their commodity.
When does this notice take effect?
This profiling change will come into effect on Monday, 29 August 2016.
