68-2016 - Changes to the use of “AQIS commodity code” for a reduced inspection trial as advised in Import Industry Advice Notice 58-2016

Who does this notice affect?

This notice will affect importers of selected vegetable seeds for sowing as outlined in Import Industry Advice Notice 58-2016 who wish to participate in a reduced inspection trial.

What has changed?

  1. Eggplant seeds have been removed from “Table 1: Listed vegetable seed species eligible for the upcoming reduced inspection trial” in Import Industry Advice Notice 58-2016 due to a current Solanum seed review. Below is the updated list of vegetable seed species for the trial.

  1. Seed lots less than 10kg not accompanied with a valid ISTA certificate or equivalent have been excluded from the trial due to the contamination risks. Eligibility to use the designated “AQIS commodity code” (LSTD) for the trial has changed to be for seeds (including seed lots less than 10kg) that are:
    • on the updated list above and imported under the tariff code 1209.91.00;
    • accompanied with a valid ISTA certificate or equivalent; and
    • imported through cargo (i.e. not imported through the mail).
