Purpose
This Industry Advice Notice (IAN) is to invite industry to provide feedback on a new national biosecurity website.
Summary of changes and key points
- On 26 August 2019, a national biosecurity website was released to help Australians understand how biosecurity relates to them, learn what they can do to reduce risks and find out how to report a concern.
- This website is currently in beta. A beta website is an early, limited release, allowing website users to get involved in the development process.
- The website is a national one-stop-shop for biosecurity information, linking to government, industry, environment and research biosecurity websites.
- The website is divided into 31 user personas, so you can find information relevant to you. These range from primary producer, exporter, importer, freight forwarder; to international traveller, beekeeper and online shopper.
- We invite you to explore the new website and provide feedback about what works and what doesn’t—there is an exit survey at the top of each page where you can comment. You are also encouraged to share the site with others. We also welcome your feedback via email.
- Your feedback will help to build a better service and shape the final biosecurity.gov.au website.
- Visit beta.biosecurity.gov.au to start exploring.
Background
Australia’s biosecurity system is vital to safeguarding our primary industries, our environment and our communities.
Our biosecurity controls also form part of our trade agreements with overseas markets.
Good biosecurity is about awareness and action and everyone has a role in protecting Australia from harmful pests, diseases and weeds.
The decision to develop the new national website follows a recent review of Australia’s biosecurity system and its underpinning Intergovernmental Agreement on Biosecurity.
