Purpose
To advise industry that the ban on the export of Australian pumpkins, watermelons, rockmelons and honeydews to Japan has been lifted.
Background
The department has received notification from Japan’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) advising of the lifting of the ban on exports of Australian pumpkins, watermelons, rockmelons and honeydews to Japan. Previously only pumpkins grown in the state of Tasmania were allowed.
Summary of changes and key points
Japan MAFF now permit the import of Australian pumpkins, watermelons, rockmelons and honeydews into Japan provided they have passed inspection. Further details are available on the Manual of Importing Country Requirements (MICoR) Plants website.
