Purpose
To advise industry that the export of potatoes from Queensland to Korea will be prohibited from 10 July 2015.
Key Points
On the 24 April 2015, the World Trade Organization issued a Sanitary and Phytosanitary Standard (SPS) on behalf of member Republic of Korea. The SPS lists prohibited areas for hosts of Potato spindle tuber viroid (PSTVd) based on the results of Pest Risk Analysis (PRA). The state of Queensland, Australia, has been included in the list of prohibited areas as part of this assessment.
These prohibited measures come into effect for all consignments certified from 10 July 2015.
