The Department of Agriculture Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) has received notification from the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Foreign Affairs removing the existing ban on Australian lentils. The removal of the ban is subject to all Australian lentil consignments meeting the following provisions.
- All consignments of lentils for export to Saudi Arabia must be presented to AQIS for inspection. Each consignment presented for inspection by AQIS must have certification from an accredited laboratory attesting to freedom from split or whole vetch.
- Consignments must be accompanied by an Australian Phytosanitary Certificate (E16), and a ‘Declaration and Certificate as to Condition’(EX188) containing the following statement inserted in the Additional Certification field;
‘Officially drawn samples have been inspected and found free from split or whole vetch’
