Exporters of grain and horticultural commodities should be aware that Iranian authorities have rejected several recent shipments of goods to Iran. No grain or horticulture commodities have been affected, but rejections are across different product types and may continue.
There have also been reports of unexpected difficulties relating to letters of credit.
Austrade advise that exporters with existing or potential sales orders from Iran should take immediate steps to assess the likelihood of rejection of shipments or buyer’s finance where Australia is country of origin or perceived to be the beneficiary of an export to Iran.
Exporters should seek specific advice from their agents or importers in Iran and contact the office of the Australian Trade Commission in Tehran on +98 21 8720472 or email Geoffrey Rea from Austrade geoffrey.rea@austrade.gov.au
