The Department of Agriculture and Water Resources (the department) have been in contact with Biosecurity Tasmania in relation to the recent outbreak of Pacific Oyster Mortality Syndrome (POMS) and the current health status of Pacific oysters in Tasmania.
Based on advice received from Biosecurity Tasmania today, the department is issuing this notice to export registered fish establishments that processing and export of Tasmanian grown Pacific oysters may recommence.
Please be aware that there are still restrictions in place on movement of Pacific oysters from Tasmania to other Australian states and movement of Pacific oysters between harvest areas in Tasmania.
