Date of effect: 1 November 2013
The Department of Agriculture issues this direction in writing under the Export Control (Fish and Fish Products) Orders 2005, Order 75, directing exporters and export registered establishments to comply with the following requirements for scallop for export from the Bass Strait Central Zone Scallop Fishery until further notice.
The department has been advised by the Australian Fisheries Management Authority (AFMA) that there has been a change to the restrictions in the Bass Strait Central Zone Scallop Fishery (BSCZSF) under the Bass Strait Central Zone Scallop Fishery (Closures) Direction No. 3 2013.
Detailed information in relation to the AFMA closure direction is available on their website.
Contact AFMA if you have any questions in relation to the closure direction.
Note: To support the export of scallop and scallop products sourced from areas that remain open for fishing (and thus not subject to the AFMA closure), exporters are required to include the following statement on all Declarations of Compliance for all species of scallop:
“This scallop/scallop product has been prepared from scallops that have been sourced from an open fisheries area”
For queries regarding scallop exports, please contact the department.
