This Market Access Advice (MAA) replaces MAA2015-02.
As outlined in MAA2015-02, new certification requirements in accordance with Indonesia’s Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (MMAF) Regulation 46/2014 concerning quality control and product safety of fisheries imported into the territory of the Republic of Indonesia were scheduled to enter in to force on 3 September 2015.
Regulation 46/2014 can be found at http://faolex.fao.org/docs/pdf/ins139988.pdf
Certification negotiations between the Department of Agriculture (the department) and MMAF are currently ongoing. However, the department has requested that MMAF continue to allow trade in Australian seafood to Indonesia for human consumption using existing certification until the revised certification arrangements have been mutually agreed. To date, the department has not received a response to this request.
The department advises that exporters work closely with their importers to verify import eligibility of product using existing export certification prior to exporting.
The department will continue to work with MMAF to resolve this issue as soon as possible. Further advice will be provided as soon as it becomes available.
