Exporters are reminded that, when exporting seafood to Taiwan, the scientific name of the product must be included on the export health certificate.
All product must be identified to species level e.g. Haliotis laevigata. Product that is only identified to genus level e.g. Haliotis spp. may not be accepted by Taiwanese authorities.
Generic product codes (i.e. ABA) are not linked to the full scientific name and the species name will not print out onto the certificate.
Exporters will need to ensure that the correct product and cut code is used in EXDOC. For further advice on cut codes for Taiwan, exporters should contact their regional DAFF food safety auditors.
