Frozen/Chilled Un-eviscerated Fishery Products Exported to Taiwan for Human Consumption
Taiwan’s Bureau of Animal and Plant Health Inspection and Quarantine have developed a list of species, including scientific names, which must meet the ‘Quarantine Requirements for the Importation of Frozen/Chilled Un-eviscerated Fish Products’ (refer Appendix 1).
The Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service is currently negotiating revised export health certification for these products. Until export health certification is agreed, the species listed in Appendix 1 must be eviscerated prior to export.
As there is currently only one certificate for all seafood exports to Taiwan, and there is no direct mechanism to suspend certification through EXDOC for specific un-eviscerated products, certification for un-eviscerated species listed in Appendix 1 will still be issued if requested. However, exporters ship these un-eviscerated products at their own risk and AQIS will be unable to facilitate the release of any consignments which may be detained.
