Series 1 – How our biosecurity system works
This series takes a close look at some of our most unwanted pests such as brown marmorated stink bug and khapra beetle and explains how we protect Australia against these and many other biosecurity threats. It also takes a peak at Australia’s Post Entry Quarantine facility and includes an episode in Cantonese for listeners who celebrate Lunar New Year.
Series 2 – Detector dogs
Produced by our detector dog capability team, series 2 will take you on a journey through 30 years of the detector dog program. The first episodes feature interviews with the program’s founder Bob Stirling and Australia’s first detector dog handlers. We then follow the program’s expansion through the introduction of the active response program, to multipurpose dogs and finally hear from our handlers currently working across Australia. Listen out for stories about celebrity encounters and find out how you could become a detector dog handler.
