Who does this notice affect?
First point of entry (FPOE) operators, airlines aircraft operators, importers, brokers and others.
What has changed?
The Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport FPOE determination has been amended to permit ‘live horses’. The determination no longer restricts permission to horses arriving from New Zealand and New Caledonia. The amendment also designates ‘T1 Livestock Transfer Facility’ as a Biosecurity Entry Point (BEP) for baggage and live horses, permitting these classes of goods to be unloaded at this location.
It is the obligation of the person in charge of an aircraft to ensure that the aircraft lands at a first point of entry in accordance with the section 237 of the Biosecurity Act 2015 and complies with the relevant FPOE determinations. Aircraft operators, importers and other stakeholders should consult the relevant FPOE determinations on the Federal Register of Legislation to ensure that their proposed aircraft or goods movements are compliant with the determinations’ permissions and BEP.
Determinations for landing places can be found on the department’s website First Points of Entry - Information for arriving aircraft and goods.
Determinations can also be found via the search tool on the Federal Register of Legislation website.
