Who does this notice affect?
Stakeholders seeking to apply for approval for a biosecurity inspection to occur at a non- Approved Arrangement (AA) site. This includes importers and customs brokers with goods that are unable to be managed at an existing AA site.
What has changed?
The department has implemented a standardised application form for all requests for biosecurity inspections to be performed at non-Approved Arrangement sites.
The importer must complete the Request for biosecurity inspection at non-AA site form and email it to the regional Biosecurity office in the state/territory that the cargo is requested to be inspected.
Applications for non-AA site inspections will be managed on a case-by-case basis by the relevant Biosecurity office and an application does not guarantee a non-Approved Arrangement inspection will be approved for this activity. Providing information to the department as early as possible will assist the department to undertake necessary risk assessments and provide responses in a timely manner.
The new Request for biosecurity inspection at non-AA site form is available on the department’s Clearance and inspection of goods webpage along with a summary of the process and instructions on how to submit.
