Who does this notice affect?
Stakeholders in the import and shipping industries—including vessel masters, freight forwarders, offshore treatment providers, Biosecurity Industry Participants, importers, customs brokers, principal agents and master consolidators.
What has changed?
Following the identification of biosecurity concerns, the department has listed M/s Bureau Veritas (I) Pvt. Ltd. (AEI: IN0442MB) as under review from the Australian Fumigation Accreditation Scheme (AFAS) to ensure biosecurity risk is managed.
The treatment provider has been listed as ‘under review’ on the List of Treatment Providers. The department may direct any consignments treated by M/s Bureau Veritas (I) Pvt. Ltd. (AEI: IN0442MB) including those in transit, for any action considered reasonable to manage the biosecurity risk posed.
All treatment certification issued by the treatment provider will be considered unacceptable from the under review date, regardless of the treatment/issue date on the treatment certificate. This includes certification issued both before and after the change in their status.
The ‘under review’ date is published on the summary of recent changes in the ‘change date’ column on the
List of treatment providers.
Consignments or goods are classified as ‘in transit’ when they have left the country of origin but have not yet been cleared through the border in Australia. Please refer to Biosecurity Import Conditions system (BICON) for onshore outcomes.
