SAC process and data trial updates
The department has concluded the Q4, 2023–24 SAC charge process and data trial that was held with eligible SAC reporters during August and September 2024. The trial results show that cargo reporters accounting for 72.6% of total SAC declaration numbers are highly prepared for the commencement of the SAC charge. Of those reporters invited to participate in this trial, only 4 parties accounting for less than 1.8% of total declarations did not engage with the department.
The department will be conducting a further process and data trial with SAC reporters that would have been liable for the charge based on Q1, 2024–25 financial year data. This trial will be conducted through October and November 2024. It will allow SAC reporters another opportunity to work with the department to review their data and make any necessary adjustments to their systems. The SAC cost recovery team will be reaching out to SAC reporters regarding this trial in the coming weeks.
