6 September 2024
Who does this notice affect?
Entities lodging SAC declarations and cargo reports associated with low-value goods ($1000 or less in value) into the Integrated Cargo System (ICS).
What has changed?
As a key step in the implementation of the SAC cost recovery charge, the department conducted a process and data trial with SAC reporters during August and September 2024.
The objective of this trial was to support SAC reporter preparedness for commencement of the SAC charge on 1 October 2024 by emulating the processes and data requirements that will be in place.
We would like to thank those SAC reporters that participated in the trial and subsequent consultations which have resulted in the refining of processes and the validation of data.
As the trial approaches its conclusion, outcomes have provided a high level of confidence in the data and enabled a significant proportion of SAC reporters to be confident in their preparations for charging on SAC declarations to begin.
Any SAC reporters who are yet to engage with the department are encouraged to reach out and reminded to action the following items before 1 October 2024:
- Email the SAC cost recovery team at saccostrecovery@aff.gov.au to nominate your preferred DAFF account number for invoicing.
- Ensure that you have a system in place to record the number of SAC declarations lodged and reported by your business.
- Review your commercial relationships in preparation for 1 October.
