Who does this notice affect?
This notice is of interest to importers of fresh chicory and fresh endive for human consumption, freight forwarders, brokers, biosecurity industry participants who hold an approved arrangement, and Pathway Operations Cargo – Inspection.
What has changed?
All fresh chicory (Cichorium intybus) and endive (Cichorium endivia) imported for human consumption, arriving in Australia from Monday 19 June onwards will be subject to an inspection where 5% of the inspection sample must have the two outer most leaves removed and examined using 10x microscope.
For example, from a 600 unit sample 30 endives or chicory (ie 5% or inspection sample), would require the outer two leaves removed and examined.
