Who does this notice affect?
This notice affects stakeholders in the import biosecurity treatment industry, customs brokers and, related biosecurity industry participants particularly fumigators who hold an approved arrangement under Chapter 7 of the Biosecurity Act 2015 that includes one or both of the following approved arrangement classes:
- 12.1 – methyl bromide fumigation
- 12.2 – sulfuryl fluoride fumigation.
Industry round table
The Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment is running an industry round table at AEST 10:30 am to 12:00 pm, Friday 17 June 2022. The aim is to engage industry in an information sharing session on biosecurity fumigation treatment related topics, including:
- changes to approved arrangement conditions for classes 12.1 and 12.2 that were presented and, consequently further refined following feedback at the 2021 Biosecurity Treatment Industry Round Tables
- an update on the Methyl Bromide Fumigation Methodology review.
The approved arrangements component will provide:
- the background for the changes to the class 12.1 and 12.2 conditions
- a description of the changes to class conditions, including refinements made in response to industry feedback
- an outline of the process and timeframe for implementation of the new conditions
- opportunity for stakeholders to seek clarification and ask questions.
