Who does this notice affect?
This notice is for importers of fresh garlic bulbs for human consumption, approved arrangements, freight forwarders, brokers, and Pathway Operations Cargo – Assessment and Inspection.
What has changed?
On 15 August 2022, the validity period of import permits for fresh whole garlic bulbs for human consumption will be changing from one to two years.
Import permits granted from 15 August 2022 will be valid for a period of two years, provided the department is satisfied that import conditions will be met and the goods will meet Australia’s appropriate level of protection.
The department will not be amending validity periods on permits already granted.
There are no additional permit assessment costs associated with this change.
