Who does this notice affect?
Clients in the import and shipping industries—including freight forwarders, importers and customs brokers—associated with importing goods that require BMSB treatment during the BMSB risk season (goods shipped between 1 September 2020 that arrive in Australian territory by 31 May 2021 (inclusive)).
What has changed?
Following a remote compliance audit, the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment and the New Zealand Ministry for Primary Industries have reinstated A.B.R.A.S. Srl (AEI: IT4001SB) onto the Offshore BMSB Treatment Providers Scheme.
Offshore treatment provider?
A.B.R.A.S. Srl (AEI: IT4001SB) will be reinstated and listed as ‘Accepted’ on the Offshore BMSB Treatment Providers Scheme’s list of offshore BMSB treatment providers and can perform BMSB heat treatments on Australian and New Zealand bound consignments.
Treatments conducted on or after the reinstatement date will be accepted and assessed for validity on arrival.
Treatments conducted on or after the suspension date, and before the reinstatement date, will not be accepted by the department.
Treatments conducted before the suspension will be managed as per Industry Advice Notice 228-2020: Offshore Brown Marmorated Stink Bug (BMSB) Treatment Providers Scheme: treatment provider suspension - A.B.R.A.S. SRL (AEI: IT4001SB) and Centro Disinfestazione Livornese (IT4004SB)
