Who does this notice affect?
Stakeholders in the import and shipping industries including importers, customs brokers, freight forwarders, transport companies, shipping lines, stevedores and any other operators in the sea container supply and logistics chain that are responsible for reporting or managing sea containers arriving into Australia destined for unpack in rural areas.
What has changed?
The suburb of Burnside QLD, 4560 has been reclassified from rural to a split rural/ metropolitan postcode. A small section of Burnside adjacent to the current Nambour metropolitan area has been reclassified to metropolitan with the rest of the suburb remaining rural. This reclassification confirms that rural tailgate inspections are no longer required for goods being delivered to this new metropolitan area, effective from 27 August 2021.
The boundary for the Burnside metropolitan area:
- From the boundary of the Nambour metropolitan zone at Blaxland Road – extending along Blaxland Road in a southerly direction to the intersection of Blaxland Road and Windsor Road.
- From the intersection of Blaxland Road and Windsor Road extending in an easterly and then south easterly direction along Windsor Road to the tip of the current Nambour metropolitan zone at the intersection of Windsor Road and Perwillowen Road.
