Who does this notice affect?
This notice affects NPPOs, importers and suppliers of fresh fruit using In-Transit Cold Treatment (ITCT) as a phytosanitary measure.
What is happening?
The required location of temperature sensors/probes used to conduct ITCT is currently being reviewed by the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment (DAWE). The purpose is to align published standards with the Australian phytosanitary treatment application standard for cold disinfestation treatment.
Probe configurations currently published on BICON for specific fresh produce, or detailed in relevant bi-lateral workplans, or as depicted in the ‘Australian phytosanitary treatment application standard for cold disinfestation treatment’ are acceptable for the remainder of the 2020/2021 season, until the review is completed.
Further information and any adjustments to the sensor/probe placements will be provided at the conclusion of the review.
