Who does this notice affect?
Customs brokers, importers and suppliers of imported goods who refer to the Minimum documentary and import declaration requirements policy.
Information
The department’s Minimum documentary and import declaration requirements policy defines the minimum requirements for documentation presented to the department to support the risk assessment of imported goods and non-commodity concerns, whether for biosecurity or imported food safety purposes.
Our stakeholders use this policy to determine and demonstrate compliance with information requirements and documentary standards when importing goods.
The content of this policy was last reviewed in 2017. The outcome of this review is detailed in Industry Advice Notice 101-2017.
What has changed?
The department is reviewing the policy again. We want to understand your views of the policy, how you use the information and what can be improved.
This year, the review will take place using the department’s Have Your Say consultation platform.
We have prepared a draft of the policy with some changes we know are necessary highlighted in the document. These relate to:
- recent additions to Imported Food Inspection Scheme documents
- changes to support amendments to the Imported Food Control Act 1992
- updated terminology for fumigation certificates
Please go to the public consultation page of our website, review the draft policy and table of proposed change and complete the survey to share your views: haveyoursay.agriculture.gov.au.
The platform will open for consultation Friday 12 April 2019.
