Who does this notice affect?
This notice is of interest to customs brokers and importers of Preserved fruit and vegetable products for human consumption.
What has changed?
The Department of Agriculture has recently completed a review of Community Protection (CP) profile questions associated with a number of tariffs and those applicable to the Preserved Fruit and Vegetable case. The review was to ensure that questions appropriately aligned with import conditions to ensure biosecurity risk of the commercial pathway is managed appropriately.
Tariffs 0904, 2002, 2003 and 2005 will now ask:
“Are the goods accompanied by appropriate documentation to verify that they are commercially canned, bottled or retorted?”
Changes to the questions will be in effect from 5th December 2019. It is advised that all importers ensure goods are lodged with appropriate documentation detailing one of the acceptable forms of processing.
