5 August 2019
Who does this notice affect?
Customs brokers and importers who import animal and animal based products from New Zealand requiring government certification.
What has changed?
Effective 5 August 2019, the department is receiving electronic certification (eCert) for sanitary certificates issued by New Zealand’s Ministry for Primary Industries. This excludes certificates issued by New Zealand for live animals and reproductive materials.
Customs brokers and importers creating full import declarations for commodities from New Zealand that require sanitary certification need to accurately enter certificate details into the Integrated Cargo System (ICS) or third party software at the time of lodgement per Minimum documentary and import declaration requirements policy.
For further information, including how to enter certificate details in import declarations, the Department has created a Help Card that may be found on the eCert for imports webpage. Please go to Electronic Certification (eCert) for imports for further information.
